We know how confusing and overwhelming it might be to create a business profile for your chosen social media platforms, so in today’s blog post, we will be sharing step-by-step information on how to do just this.

Should you switch from a personal account to a business account?

Business accounts will help to provide a lot of benefits for your business including:

  • The ability to access insights and analytics
  • The ability to tag your own products
  • The ability to create ads
  • The ability to add links
  • The ability to schedule your posts in advance
  • Users will see your business as professional

Let’s show you how …

Instagram

Creating an Instagram professional account:

  1. Go to your profile and tap the 3 vertical dots in the right hand corner
  2. Click on settings
  3. Click on account
  4. Click switch to professional account
  5. Click continue and ok
  6. Click business and next
  7. Enter your contact details and click next
  8. Connect business account to Facebook Page associated with your business (optional step, however, recommended if you want to create ads)

Note: When you switch to a business account you will have the option to choose a category for your business that will appear on your profile.

Facebook

Creating a Facebook business page (Desktop):

  1. If you haven’t already, you’ll need to create a Facebook profile (if you have, skip this step)
  2. Open your Facebook profile
  3. Click on the 9 dots in the right-hand corner (next to the messenger icon)
  4. Click page
  5. Name your page
  6. Choose an appropriate category for your page in line with your business e.g. Property
  7. Add a description
  8. Add your business information e.g., registered address and contact information
  9. Click continue
  10. Add a profile image (this could be the face of the brand or a logo)
  11. Click next
  12. Add a cover photo (optional, however, it will make your page look more professional)
  13. Click next and go to your new business page

LinkedIn

Creating a LinkedIn business page (desktop):

  1. If you haven’t already, you’ll need to create a LinkedIn profile (if you have, skip this step)
  2. Click on the work icon in the top right-hand corner of your LinkedIn homepage
  3. Click Create a Company Page
  4. Choose the type of page you want to create e.g. Small business, medium-large business, showcase page or educational institution
  5. Enter your company details
  6. Click the verification box to confirm the changes
  7. Click create page
  8. Click start building your page
  9. Add cover photo/banner and company image
  10. View as a member to see what your page looks like to other users

Pinterest

Creating a Pinterest business account:

  1. If you haven’t already, you’ll need to create a Pinterest profile (if you have, skip this step)
  2. Click on the icon with your business initial
  3. Click on settings
  4. Click on account settings on the left-hand side
  5. Scroll down to convert to business account
  6. Click get started
  7. Click switch to business
  8. Enter your details to set up your profile
  9. Click next
  10. Select a category for your brand and your goals
  11. Choose where you’d like to start e.g., share ideas, grow your audience or showcase your brand
  12. Start creating pins and adding to your relevant boards

Twitter

Creating a Pinterest professional account:

  1. If you haven’t already, you’ll need to create a Pinterest profile (if you have, skip this step)
  2. Go to your profile
  3. Click edit profile
  4. Scroll down and click on switch to professional account
  5. Click agree and continue
  6. Select a category relevant to your business
  7. Click next
  8. Select account type e.g., Business or Creator
  9. Click next
  10. Customise your profile, pick relevant topics to follow, or skip step
  11. Once finished, go back to edit profile
  12. Scroll down to edit professional profile
  13. Select show category (optional)
