ToggleThat’s true even if they are on a holiday. The term ‘workation’ is in fact an amalgamation of the words, work and vacation.
Of course, this is given that the property they book provides the necessities for working remotely, together with the comforts and leisurely amenities that one can expect from any serviced accommodation.
Is your property business workation-friendly? See our our checklist below!
Ever heard of the phrase, “water is life’? Well, in a remote work setup, Wifi is life. More than anything else, this is most likely the first thing that your guests will be asking you about.
Internet is usually given in most serviced accommodations. However, professionals and business owners will usually look for speeds of at least 100mbps. It should also be available in all rooms. If you have a big place, you may consider installing repeaters to ensure the range covers the entire house.
If possible, have backup wifi ready in case of network issues.
If you are working from home, you would probably have a permanent station where you are comfortable staying put and able to focus on your tasks. In a workation, however, most people would like to have that flexibility of being able to choose where they want to settle down to work. They would even try different areas to enjoy a different view and ambience.
Therefore, guests would surely appreciate it if your serviced accommodation offers an abundance of work surfaces scattered around the premises. Having varying surface heights is also great so users can switch from sitting to standing position.
We all know that unsettling feeling of having to stretch your charger to reach that awkwardly placed electrical socket a mile away from your desk. To avoid this, always position work surfaces in spots where there are easily accessible outlets. Alternatively, you can neatly set an extension cord, lining it in the least intrusive way possible.
Make sure as well that furniture and decors do not block any of the sockets.
If finding a socket when they need one is not a problem, then guests’ next possible mishap is to find a socket that does not match their plug. Chances are they always travel with an adapter together with their devices, but one can never really tell. It is always better to be prepared.
Think about adding adapters to your usual list of amenities. Slip one into the drawers of each room alongside other essentials such as a pen, a notepad, and other common items.
In a recent European survey commissioned by the Institute for Scientific Information on Coffee (ISIC), 68% of respondents answered that they always or frequently drink coffee while working. The UK itself consumes 98 million cups of the beloved beverage every single day.
Throwing in free-flowing coffee to the rental package is a great perk that any visiting professional will appreciate.
A power outage in the middle of an important virtual meeting – it’s something every remote worker dreads. If you have the budget for it, a backup generator will reassure your occupants and solidify your property as a top choice for a workation stay.
As a less costly option, portable generators are available in the market too and can provide enough electricity to support multiple devices.
